CAMBRIA CROSSES ATLANTIC. LONDON, Aug. 9. The flying-boat Cambria arrived at Foynes at 10.32 a.m. It took 12 hours 2 minutes, the fastest west to east crossing of the Atlantic in the present series. During the flight an average speed was 168 miles per hour. DETAILS OF THE FLIGHT. (British Official Wireless.) Received August 10, 11.45 a.m. RUGBY, Aug. 9. The Imperial Airways flying boat Cambria reached Southampton Water at five p.m. to-day. The journey from Port Botwood to Foynes (Ireland) was completed in eleven hours 57 minutes, or 6ix minutes less than the Caledonia’s time. She left Port Botwood in extremely hot weather, but flow much of the course at a height of 10,000 feet to catch a following wind, and the temperature there was about freezing point. At one time she altered her course to avoid a storm from which lightning flashes could be seen.
