PROMISING TONE
STOCK MARKETS RISE. AUTUMN BULL MOVE.' EXCELLENT TONE PREVAILS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received August 9p 11.0 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 8. The stock markets, contrary to expectations, arc rising with the temperature and a steadily increasing number of investors is seeking to join in what appears to be the beginning of the autumn bull movement. Kaffirs have risen substantially in the past fortnight, some as much as 50 per cent. ine rubber market is active; leading issues rose substantially and oils are belter. An excellent tone prevails among the heavy industrial issues, notably Vickers. Commodities also participated in the revival, especially base metals. Tin is most active. The Financial News considers that if consumers rush in the market price may rise £3OO. The Investors' Chronicle emphasises the fact that, despite the expanding output, all base metals stocks are not increasing. The situation contains the germ of another boom, but, if the conburners continue, to purchase hand-to-mouth, this may be averted as there is no danger of an actual metal shortage.
