MANAWATU KENNEL CLUB
DOGS ON PARADE. splendidlsxhibition. Dogs were on parade at Feilding on Saturday afternoon when the Manawatu Kennel Club commenced the first of a series of parades for the purpose of encouraging the fancy in Feilding. There was a good display of all breeds, and a fair attendance of the public. The parade marked the second round of a competition for a points banner for puppies and for the open class dogs. Points are allocated at the end of each parade. The exhibitor securing the highest aggregate at the end of the club’s financial year wins the banner. Mr T. P. Hart (president of the club) stated that it has been in existence for almost 30 years, being reformed in 1927. Interest in the breeding of dogs had been stimulated and to-day the club had the largest array of trophies for competition of any club in the Dominion. Twenty-eight cups in addition to a number of medals were offered for competition. At the conclusion of the judging Mr Hart expressed his thanks to Mr P. Stevens for the use of his rooms and to the exhibitors and public for their attendance. He hoped that future parades would be even more representatively attended.
JUDGE’S COMMENT. Commenting on the exhibition at the conclusion of his judging, Mr W. F. Durward said that he was well pleaded with the entries, most of which were of good quality and excellent specimens of their respective breeds. The winning dog in the parade, Champion Glen Aro Defiance, shown by Mrs F. G. Farmer, was a Scottish terrier, while the best female was Beulah Bowdler, a cocker spaniel exhibited by Mrs Lacey (Whakarongo). Mr Durward described Miss Piper’s collie St. Timothy as a dog of outstanding merit. Two very nice golden retrievers, Nan of Riverslea and Jane of. Riverslea, shown hv Mr S. W. Baker, also received special mention from Mr Durward. RESULTS OF JUDGING. COLLIES.
