MARTON, Aug. o. A team from the Wanganui Badminton Club last evening heat the Marton Club by 9 sets to 7. Cr W. Doole presided over the monthly meeting of the Rangitikei County Council to-day. f j The sum of £lO was voted for the planting of trees on the Domain. The Main Highways Board wrote agreeing to reduce the council’s liability from £2OOO to £I4OO for the section of the State Highway between Mangaweka and L’tiku, which will reduce the future annual instalments of interest and principal to £l5B 17s. A donation of £ff.3s was made to the Tnihape Fire Brigade. Tn connection with t'he subcommittee's report on the . conference held at Marton on March 18 on the Local Government (A malaga motion Schemes) Bill, 1930, the following resolution was carried: “That the Rangitikei County Council, after holding a conference with the representatives of t,he local authorities whose districts are within the county, and after reviewing all’the circumstances, does not consider it to be desirable that the districts of such internal local authorities should he merged and the functions transferred to the County Council: and that a copy of the report of the sub-committee be forwarded to the Minister in Charge of the Local Government (Amalgamation Schemes) Proposed -Bill.”
