ROSEIIILL AND CAULFIELD RACES SYDNEY, Aug. 8. Stirring finishes were witnessed at th 6 Rosehill races on Saturday, four events being won by no more than a neck. Several New Zealand horses wero engaged, but only Deputy Ruler, who was second to. Moonray in the first division of the Flying Handicap, was placed. The others. Rebel Chief, Bronze Tulip, Birthday Boy, Stalin, Bengal Lancer, Improvement, Latharna. Golden Chance and Viceroy, were all unplaced in their respective races. The August Handicap, one mile and a quarter, resulted: FIREMAN, 8.8 (Finch) 1 FRIAR’S SWITCH, 8.6 (Heather) ... 2 DULCEDO, 8.12 (Reynolds) 3 Seven started, including Improvement. Half a neck; half a neck. Time, 2.6. Much interest was evinced in the French horse Genetout having his first outing in the second division of the Flying Handicap, which was won by a’ head by Silver Rose from Tuckiar, and El Senorita. Genetout was a littlo at sea, but was galloping strongly near the finish and was fifth. At Melbourne the Caulfield races re suited as follow: AUSTRALIAN HURDLE RACE. Three miles and u-quarter and 20 yards. DRESS SUIT, 9.6 (Fullarton) 1 BRIDGE OF MARS, 11.0 (Webster) 2 HIGHLAND FLING, 10.7 (Driscoll) 3 Other starters included T'riteloia, I'ulham, Monelik, Dakwood, King Siris, King’s Game and Precedor. Bridge of Mars tried to lead the whole way, closely attended by Tritelcia, Dross Suit, Fulham and Precedor. Approaching the seven furlongs post Dress Suit took command and was not troubled to win convincingly by six lengths, with twenty lengths between second and third. 1 ritelei was fourth. The remainder, excepting Precedor, fell. Time, 6.4^. Riddle was third in the Mormngton Welter Handicap, Whcrnside being unChief was unplaced in the Bala clava Stakes. , . Pilot was unplaced in the second division of the Crimea Trial Handicap. MOONDAII PLATE. Six furlongs. VALIANT CHIEF, 9.2 (Brcaalcy) ... 1 AURIE'S STAR, 10.0 (Smart) 2 REGULAR BACHELOR, 9.5 (Creigluon) .5 Eleven started, including Only One. Half a head; one length and threequarters. Time, 1.124. Valiant Chief was having Ins first run since the accident twelve months ago, when K. Voitre wa3 injured. F. Peacock, rider of Fulham m the Australian Hurdle Race, sustained concussion. F. Jennings, rider of King Sins, received concussion, fractured ribs and general abrasions. Highland Fling broke down at the last furlong.
