GIFT EVENING.

A very pleasant social gift evening was held in the Terrace End Bowling Club’s pavilion on Saturday in honour of Miss Nancy Pearce, whose marriage is approaching. A jolly crowd of approximately eighty guests were gathered to enjoy a progranime of dancing, items, and competitions. Mr 11. Milne officiated as M.C., and the music was supplied by Mrs O. M. Christiansen and Mr F. McLachlan. Among the artists who contributed towards the entertainment were Mr C. R. Luke and Mr J. Renwick (humorous items) and two of Miss June Scott’s pupils (tap dancing and sailor’s hornpipe). Several apologies for absence were received, including one from Mr J. A. Nash, president of the Manawatu Bowling Centre, and Mr J. Wallace Smith, president of the Terrace End Bowling Club, who was away in Auckland on sick leave. At a suitable juncture, Mr G. W.
