QUEENSLAND STRIKE.
MINE PITS STILL IDLE. SYDNEY, Aug. 6. There have been no tangible developments in regard to the threatened strike of coal-miners since the compulsory conference early in the week was adjourned until next Tuesday. All the Broken Hill Proprietary pits are at present idle, the men having refused work since the stay-in strikes. Sectional strikes are still in progress at the pits elsewhere. The mine owners have been holding conferences daily on their proposed counter log to the miners’ claims. The miners’ executive, which has also met frequently since Monday, decided that if the owners’ proposals are considered unreasonable work shall cease throughout the State and that coal from Queensland shall be declared black. 'They point out that all pieparations are completed for a general stoppage of work next week in the event of negotiations with the owners collapsing on Tuesday.
