PAHIATUA, Aug. 6. Mr and Mrs W. Ebbett, who were for a number of years resident in Oliura, have returned to the district and taken up their residence in Mangamaire. Mr and Mrs L. Hartley, who have been on holiday in the south, have returned to Pahiatua. Mrs A. Gardiner, ot Stratford, who has been the guest of Mrs llillas, Pori, is now visiting her sister, Mrs Handcock, of Ballance. The monthly sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at Pahiatua was held yesterday morning, when Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., presided. The two new J.P.’s, Messrs L. D. Lovelock and J. Hutton, were sworn in. Dominic Augustine Clausen, charged with failing to comply with a maintenance order, was sentenced to a month’s hard labour, to be suspended if weekly payments of 25s aro made and £lO is paid off the amount owing. Patrick John McGill, farm-hand, of Pongaroa, charged with driving an unregistered motor vehicle and operating same without being tho possessor of a driver’s license, was fined 10s with 10s costs on the first charge and ordered to pay 10s costs only on the second charge. John Anderson pleaded not guilty to a charge of driving a car on the Pongaroa main highway without same being registered and without possessing a driver’s license. Tho Magistrate pointed out that the law had been broken and fined him 10s and 10s costs for having no drivers license and convicted him ; with 2os costs, for driving his car without same being registered. Charged with driving a truck without possessing a driver’s license, Lawrence Gandy was fined £1 with 10s costs. It. A. Futclier was fined £1 with 10s costs for riding a bicycle after dark without a light. Lloyd Sylvester Signal pleaded not guilty to a charge of negligent driving on the main road at Hamua on May 28. A fine of £l, with 10s costs, was imposed. Richard Robert Cleghom was fined £2, with 10s costs, on a charge of failing to keep to tho left of the road. The wedding took place at St. James’s Church, Lower Hutt, recently, of Berenice Maxine (Berry), only daughter of Mr and Mrs R. V.
Lowry', of Lower Hutt, and Albert Louvain, voungest son of • Mr and Mrs G. Judd, of Tane, Pahiatua. Rev. N. E. Winhall, of Plimmerton, officiated, and Miss B. B. Harte played the wedding music. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of ciel pink satin. Small flowers of the satin were arranged at the waist-line and a small spray ol orange blossom was tucked in at the bottom of the collar. The skirt formed a large train with a spray of orange blossom in the centre. The pink chantilly lace veil, embroidered with sprigs of lilies, was caught with a coronet of pink orange blossom, and her bouquet of pink cyclamen with touches of blue, was tied with sunshine ribbon. The bridesmaids were Misses Rita Goodie (chief), and Sy'bil Lowry, whose frocks were of cornflower blue cloquc. Iho best man was Mr It. Richards, of Masterton, and the brother of tho bridegroom, Mr C. Judd, was groomsman. Messrs G. Armstrong and J. Judd acted as ushers. There were more than .120 guests at the reception and dance which was held later. Allien Mi and Mrs A. L. Judd left for a motor tour of the North Island, tho bride travelled in a bottle-green dress, hat and coat, with accessories to match.
