The entry of hoggets would he almost us large as last week, but, generally speaking, the quality was a grade lower. Competition was barely as strong, and several line? vvero passed in at auction, although sales were mado privately. Best ewe and wether hoggets, however, vvero in strong domain], with practically no easing in price. A fair entry of fat sheep, principally prime ewes met with a sound sale, the domand forcing owes to a further rise of 2s; wethers sold firmly at par, and hoggets showed practically no chnnge in value. A fud yarding of beef, including some finished bullocks, met with a sound sale, but in places this market was inclined to be irregular. The store cattle section comprised principally Jersey cows, with one or two lines of run cattle, and there was a good sale in this department. Tho dairy sale entry was moro of a nondescript nature and the competition lagged, tho sale being inclined tn be heavy. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on tho Fcilding salo as follows: — , . .. Moderate entries came forward m ail sheep departments and a sound sale was the order. Breeding ewes fully maintained late rate?., but there was a much smallcr selection available and the quality varied considerably. Store lambs wore in moderate siipplv. There vvero not the top qua! ity lines 'of wethers so prominent in last week’s entry, but relatively tho salo was just as good. Good ewe lambs reached new price levels for the season-—in fart all classes of ewo lambs sold well throughout. A further vise was noticeable in tlio fat sheep section, both ewes and wethers being affected. Jn the fat cattle pens there was a larger proportion of station-bred sorts than usual. ’These, including several pens of well-finished biilloeks,, elicited keen competition, but cows ex-dairy, of which thoio was an extra heavy penning, receded in values as compared with last week. Boner cows, maintained late levels and tho entry was again heavy. In the dairy section a firm sale existed, but values wore not up to the level of last week, duo to the absence of quality.
