WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

MEETING AT POHANGIXA. Tho monthly meeting of the Pohangina Women’s Institutes was held on Tuesday. Mrs J. T. Moar presiding over a very good attendance. A number of visitors were welcomed. Tho thought for the day was, “If your nerves are all askew, there is one good tiling to do, Go walkin’.” A demonstration of brasswork was given by Mrs Renwick and a demonstration on the making of wood fibre flowers by Mrs Childs, both ladies being members of the Milson Institute. An invitation to the Makino Institute's fifth birthday party wan received. The federation bring-and-buy stall did excellent business. A competition for a baby’s knitted vest resulted in Mrs Drummond’s entry being placed first. Miss Brooking*s entry scocnd, and Miss E. Roberts’s entry third. Miss I. Roberts’s special trophy for scones was won by Miss N. Harland, Mrs .T. Harland being second and Miss Brooking third. The awards for the host bloom in the garden, wore: Mrs Sinclair 1, Mrs Stevens 2 and Mrs Tews 3. Mrs Renwick and Mrs Childs were tho judges and were accorded a vote of thanks. Afternoon tea was served by' the hostesses, Mosdariios Stuart, Stevens and Miss Roberts. —Poliangina correspondent.
