BRITISH POSITION ACUTE.
IMPORT DUTY LOWERED
LONDON, July 5
A decision to reduce the import duty from 20 to 121 per cent, on certain classes of iron and steel will facilitate imports until the home supplies of iron ore and steel scraps become normal. Meanwhile Britain is beating ploughshares into shells. 'The shortage of steel for rearmament is so acute that the Steel Federation is launching a campaign throughout Britain to collect old iron lvedsteads, fenders .and dust-bins.
