COLYTON.
CONCERT AND DANCE. (From Oar Own Correspondent.) COLYTON, June 6. The first concert to bo hold ill Colyton for some considerable time took place last week, when the School Committee promoted a concert and dance in aid of their funds, and a satisfactory response was made by the residents, the hall being very well filled. A varied programme was presented by a company of artists organised by Air MacDonald, interspersed with items by the school children. The programme was as follows: —National Anthem and “God Defend New Zealand.” children; male quartette (Messrs Donaldson, MacDonald, Jackson and Kendall ; accompanist Mr T. Palmer); recitations, Lloyd Alai, Noel Lankshear, Aileen Trcwhiit; song, Mr Jackson; nursery rhymes, junior children, “.Tack and Jill,” Betty and Jack Thomas; “Simple Simon,” Ivan and Ken Lynch; “Lillie 80-Peep,” .Tune Bassett ; “Washing Day,” humorous item, Air L. Wood; doll song, junior girls; vocal, Miss Blnnehett; quarictto, piny, “Tho Mott Alott Bird,” juniors; inimour, Mr Lon Wood ; “Ten Little Nigger Boys,” Ken Porter, Murray Jensen. Milton Allerby, Stan Woodman, Bill Heap, Noel Lankshear, David Trewliitt, Ivan Lynch, Neville Lind, Lloyd Mai and Da Bassett; songs, Mr T. Donaldson; Maori songs, senior pupils. At the conclusion of the concert Air J. Crook, the chairman, expressed thanks on behalf of the committee) to the performers for the programme and to the enthusiastic audience. Supper was served under the guidance of the committeemen’s wives. Tho door was then cleared and dancing was indulged in. Alcssrs J. T. and B. Wcalleaus, of Aratika, and Air IF. White, of Foilding. are at present on a motor four of tho Auckland district. Air J. Walker, “Gowanlea,” is spending a. holiday with relatives at Taumaruuui.
