BRITISH BY-ELECTION.
CHERTSEY SEAT RETAINED. LONDON, July 4. The Chertsey (Surrey) by-election necessitated by the death of Sir A. Boyd-Curpenter, DI.P. (Conservative), resulted:— Commander A. Marsden (Con.) 19,767 Mr Taylor (Liberal) 10,722 Conservative majority 9,045 At the last election Sir A. BoydCarpenter had a majority of 18,877 votes against Mr M. B. Brown (Liberal).
