“STEP IN RIGHT DIRECTION.”

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 2

The views of its constituent Chambers having been ascertained, the executive of the Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand, at its meeting yesterday, carried the iollowing resolution for transmission to the Minister of Internal Affairs: — “This association has examined the Local Government (Amalgamation Schemes) Bill, and. without going into the details, considers it is a step in the right direction. It is of opinion, however, that Section 11 should he amended to provide that where representations have been made, and where the matter of such representations does not become the subject of agreement within a reasonable time, there should be a reference to the commission, the reasonable time which is first to bo allowed to elapse to be specified.”
