APPEAL COURT.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 2. The Appeal Court hearing of the William Mackenzie versus William John Harper case was continued to-day. Mr C. H. Taylor, Wellington (for respondent) submitted that a licensee’s wife was in the same position as a servant with regard to the supply of liquor after hours and the authorities showed that a servant was not entitled to supply In's guests after hours on licensed premises. Further, If the Court should take the view that the position of a licensee’s wife was the same as a lodger on the premises and that she has the common right by law to entertain her guests on 'the premises, then it was contended that a lodger commits an offence if he supplies his guests with liquor during closing hours. Judgment was reserved.
