MISS MARBLE BEATEN

TENNIS AT WIMBLEDON. AVOAIEN FINALISTS FOUND. MISS ROUND'INCLUDED. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received July 2, 11.10 a.in. LONDON, July 1. The Wimbledon tennis championships were continued to-day. in tlie women’s singles semi-final At 11c. Jedrzejoivska’s supremo steadiness and forceful driving eclipsed ALisa Marble’s versatility, which, however, was marred by erratic periods. Aliss Round, the title-holder in 1934, easily beat Aline. Aiathieu. She made oniy two errors in tlie second set, in which she lost only five points. The Australian pair, Bromwich anil Sproule, were unable to counter the Americans’ vigorous game in the men’s doubles and, although the Australians were outmatched by their more experienced and versatile opponents, they fought every stroke. Von Ciamm and Henkel entered the semi-final, beating the British pair, who are in training as prospective Davis Gup players. The Germans were definitely dominant, especially overhead. Hughes and Tuckey’s defeat of the Japanese, Nakano and Yamagishi, was characterised by tlie clever net voMeys and vigorous services of the Englishmen.

Hughes and Turkey will meet Alenzel and Hecht in the semi-final, in which von Cranim and Henkel will play Budge and Mako. The matches will lie the more interesting as all will represent teams engaged in the Davis Cup competition. Details: AIEN’S DOUBLES. Fourth Round.
