replacement plans. Preparations for replacing the old onen drain in College Street between llotanica! Road and Cook Street with a pipe culvert are now being made, and a survey is in progress by the engineering department of the City Council. It is intended to fill in the drain, which is about five feet deep and lies along the southern side of College Street and replace it with a 30-inch diameter pipe, which will link up with the existing stormwater drainage system at Cook Street, and discharge through the Botanical Road outlet. The drain traverses the frontage of + l„> State housing block, and the Government is contributing towards the cost of the improvements to be undertaken.
