WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.
YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. Markets were quiet to the point of dullness on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday, and trading was restricted. Government loans were firm on a good demand, but supplies were scarce and no dealings wore reported. Bank shares were firmer, four parcels of New Zealand being sold at 45s 3d. Commercial of Australia were definitely stronger, buyers moving up to 18s 4d and sellers holding for 18s 8d and 18s 9d and in Dunedin at 18s 7d. The preference issue had unsupported buyers at £9 3s. Union ot Australia were quoted at £lO 14s, sellers £lO 17s. Industrial and trading issues wore generally quiet. N.Z. Breweries advanced to 50s 3d, but sellers stayed out. Staples had buyers at 50s, sellers asking Ls hotter. Tooths were wanted at 54s 6d, sellers Is higher. G. J. Coles had dealings at £5 2s and £5 Is Od, with late buyers in at the former figure and sellers asking £5 2s 6d. Mining issues were dull.
