TOURING RUGBY TEAM.

POVERTY BAY SIDE. There passed through Palmerston North to-day the touring Poverty Bay representative Rugby team which played at Hastings yesterday and was defeated by 34 points to nil on a very muddy ground. The team plays at AAmnganui to-morrow and then returns to Gisborne. The first stage of the journey, from Gisborne to Hastings, amounted to 160 miles and the second stage of the journey was also more than 100 miles. The travellers had dinner in Palmerston North. Included in the team are three All Black nominees, Messrs E. Grant aim E. McAneney. both three-quarter line players, and R. Rodgers, a locking forward. Another member of the side is J. Leach, a member of the Maori All Black team which toured Australia. The Poverty Bay players found the wet ground at Hastings very strange as they are accustomed to dry playing areas in the north.
