CIZIZENS' LUNCH CLUB.
ANIMALS’ INTELLIGENCE. The speaker at to-day’s gathering of tile Citizens’ Lunch Liub was Air A. E. Mriglit, ivlio chose a rather unusual sueject in “Animals Which Use Their Heads.” Mr D. W. Low presided and lie welcomed as visitors Mr J. H. Stubbs (Dargaviiie) and Mr li. Doble (Danlie virke). The first portion of Mr Wrights address sought to demonstrate that animals were controlled by more than instinct. He argued that many of them had real brain power and knew how to use that power, and lie quoted instances where animals had used their heads strategically to a remarkable degree, particularly in times of emergency. Mr Wright then went on to deal with the animal which used its head in the battering sense and he described the head “armaments” of many such animals. He referred to their courage and determination and th<v reluctance to accept defeat. Dir Wright concluded by stating that man had much to learn from both types of animals which use their heads. He was accorded the customary vote of thanks.
