TIMBER WORKERS
FORMING A UNION. For Press Association. GREYMOUTH, July 1. A conference in Wellington recently arranged to launch a New Zealand Timber Workers’ Union, states Mr F. L. Turley, secretary, and registration will he sought in a lew days. The organisation is to embrace all Dominion timber workers except those of Southland and Canterbury, the remainder, exceeding 6000, having agreed to the proposals. It is understood that the Minister of Labour will allow the registration, thereby bringing also into the union those remaining in the meantime outside, these not being more than 20 per cent, of the employees in the industry.
