Tlie following are the vital statistics for the half year ended June 30, those for the same period of last year being in parentheses: —Births, 59 (48); deaths. 20 (21); marriages. 22 (17). For the quarter: Births. 131 (23); deaths, 12 (9); marriages,. 11 (11). For the month: Births. 14 (7); deaths, 4 (4); marriages. 4 (3). Last evening the challenge basketball game, held under the auspices ol the Bush Association, between Mr L. T. Russell’s B team and the A representatives was played. The B team with a sealed handicap of eight was beaten 14—13. thus giving it a total of 21 to 14. The Nireaha Miniature Rifle Clubs team visited Konini last evening to shoot in a further Byrne Shield contest. The home side was in particularly good form, gaining 930 points, which iis 'the highest recorded this year on the new metric targets. Nireaha.’a score was 91G. Top scorers for the night were M. Walker (Konini) and F. Alpe (N'realm). who recorded 99 out of 100. The parislioners of St. Peter's Anglican Church last evening celebrated the annual, patronal loslival wiih a l>ii<?f service followed by .a social gathering. Rev. Mr Wilson introduced. Venerable Archdeacon Bullock, from St. Peter s, Wellington. Archdeacon ot 4\ airarapa, who entertained with most interesting reminiscences of his experiences in the ministry in London and of his early association with the church in New Zealand. Ho conveyed greetings from Bishop St. Barbe Holland in which the latter expressed his wishes that the parishioners would continue the great work of the Church. At the conclusion of his address Mr A. W. Hamilton moved a vote of thanks to Rev. Mr Bullock, and (lie ladies dispensed supper.
