WEDDING.
. CASEY—HERLIIiY. In beautiful sunshine on a midwinter morning, St. Brigid’s lloman Cattiolic Churcii, Feilding, on Saturday, June 19, was the scene of a quiet wedding when Kathleen, youngest daughter of the late Mr aim Mrs Herlihy, of Aorangi, was married to Francis Alexander, elder son of Mr and Mrs F. D. Casey, Napier, and formerly of Eltliam. Rev. Father P. J. Herlihy, of Palmerston North, a relative of the bride, performed the marriage and celebrated Nuptial Mass. Mrs Christie played the •‘Wedding March,” and the senior pupils of the Convent School sang suitable hymns during the Nuptial Mass. Sisters of St. Joseph’s Convent decorated the altar. The bride, given away by her brother, made a dainty picture in her gown of ivory Vandyke crepe with cowl collar, forming a high neckline to her close fitting bodice. A narrow belt at the waist was finished at the back with a small bow and buckle, the slim fitting skirt forming a train. The embroidered veil (lent by her sister-in-law, Mrs D. Herlihy) was fastened to her head with a triple band of orange blossom. Her beautiful shower boupuet of white chrysanthemums, hothouse orchids, roses, asparagus and maidenhair fern, was the gift of Mr and Mrs J. H. Davies, of Cheltenham. As the bride left the church, her small nephew, Pat. presented her with a beautiful ivory bound prayer book, the gift of Mrs E. Fidler. of Feilding. The bride was attended by her sister, Mary, wiio wore bright blue fiornl crepe-de-chine, with a blue organdie frilled collar and small frilled cap. She carried a muff finished with a spray of ilowers to match the frock. Mr Len Casey, of Eltham, brother of the bridegroom, was the man. At the. reception the bride’s sister, Miss Herlihy, received the guests, wearing a fawn tweed jumper suit and hat to match, and carrying a posy of matching flowers. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, who wore a .tailored heavy striped worsted costume and carried a posy of violets. Rev. Father Herlihy presided at the breakfast. After tlie bride had cut the beautiful wedding cake, made by Mrs H. V. Benge, of Aorangi, the usual toasts were proposed by father Kerlihv, the bridegroom.. Mr A. P. Hughes, and Mr E. ■ Fidler. Songs
were rendered by Father Herlihy, and Messrs 'll. and D. Evans,. of Wellington. '1 ho happy couple left during the afternoon on their honeymoon travelling south, the bride wearing a tweed jumper suit and velour fur-trimmed coat, with accessories to tone.
