FAREWELL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) APITI. July 1. A complimentary - dance was tendered Mr and Airs Bert London on Tuesday evening as a farewell to them. Dancing and games were enjoyed, with Mrs J. Smith at. the piano. Air J. 11. Cowan expressed the rcerret felt at Mr and Airs London s departure and asked them to accept a gut from their friends with the good wishes of them all. Air London suitably replied. CEMETERY BOARD. A meeting of the Cemetery Board was held on Tuesday evening. Those present were Alcssrs E. 11. Cummerfield (chairman). B. Kearney (secretary) AA . J. Osborne, J. Jensen, and AA. Hogan. All" Kearney’s resignation was accepter with regret. Air W. Hogan was appointed secretary. Air Osborne, on behalf of tho trustees moved a vote of thanks and appreciation to Air Kearney for bis services to tlie board during the Inst few" years. WOMEN’S DIVISION. On Tuesday afternoon the members ot the social committee mot at the home ot the president (Mrs A. Viles). Jhere were also present Afesdames Nix b 11. AA bite C Mclntyre, T. Osborne, J. Cawood and 'l' ’ Purnell (lion, secretary). Arrangements were finalised for the social eveninn- to be held this week. ° PERSONAL. Mr an d Airs E. W. Prince, of 'le Awn■until, and Airs Bagiss, of Ngutunm, are the guests of Air and Airs R. Hooper. Mr Prince, senr., has returned to Apiti, much improved in health. Air and Mrs A. Law. of Dannevirke, accompanied by Mrs _\lawhinnev of Ranfurly, Central Otago, rccont.lv visited Air and Mrs W. Duncan Mr and Airs W. Duncan have left for a holiday in Wellington. Mrs Duncan, senr.. is also away on holiday. Mi; R. Muir is visiting Auckland. Mr and Mrs Rcrfc London arc leaving to make their borne in Pohangina. Mr and Kirs L. Miller have come to live in the district. The local schoolboys’ A football team are again tho winners of the shield, and also won the medals in the recent seven-a-sido tourney.
