KING CAROL IN POLAND.
WILL SEE PAPAL NUNCIO. Received June 30, 10.25 a.m. . WARSAW, June 29. The Pope has instructed the Papal Nuncio to receive King Carol at Cracow during his visit to the cathedral to pay homage to Marshal Pdsudski s tomb. Archbishop Sapieha, who is at present indisposed, is confined to the palace. It is variously supposed that he objected to the visit either because King Carol is a non-Catholic or because of the nature of his private life. Vio'ent demonstrations were recently staged outside the palace of the Papal Nuncio, thousands of people demanding the immediate dismissal of the Archbishop of Cracow, for removing the heavy silver coffin containing the remains of Marshal Pilsudski from the Tomb of Kings m the cathedral in defiance of the President of Poland The coffin was removed when the Archbishop learned that King Carol of Rumania was to place a wreath on Pilsuilski’s tomb. King Carol was due to arrive at Cracow on Saturday. Fifty thousand Pibud'ki veterans demanded that the cathedral should be declared State property, the Archbishop punished, and the Concordat between the Vatican and Poland revised to reduce the powers of the Church.
