Mr and Airs AV. R. Taylor, Mr and Airs R (J. Effingham, Air H. Taylor and Air H. Effingham left Pahiatua on Saturday for a trip to New South Wales and Queensland. Air J. Curtin, tho statiomnastcr at Pahiatua, is on annual leave. Air and Mrs AV. Edge, of Halcombe, are visiting Airs Edge’s sister, Airs E. E. Etz, of Pahiatua. Tho selector (Air R. J. Smith) has chosen tho following team to represent the Bush Rugby Union against Dannevirko in a Bebbington Shield match on Saturday:— J. Smith, S. Wolland, Riddell, H. Wolland, Stringfcllow, AlcShcrry, Lett, Bailey, Spring, Cameron, Failover, Verry, Harvey, Aitken, Aiatlhews; reserves, AVilliams, Hartgill, Duggan, Upston, Ncwlands, and Richardson. The men’s representatives hockey match. Bush v. Wairarapa, at Carterton, resulted in a win for Wairarapa by 6 goals to 2. In the women’s match Kaitawa drew with United. 1-all. Hastwolls won by default from Nircaha. The fastest time (lhr 36min 15sec) in the Pahiatua Amateur Cycling Club’s road race on Saturday was made by S. Bird. Details: W. Adams (lOmin), lhr 41min, 1; S. Bird (4min), lhr 36min 15sec, 2; J. Trcder (4min), lhr 36min 16scc, 3; L. Wilson (lOmin), lhr 44niin 30sec, 4; D. Iv. Pritchard (7min), lhr 45min 30scc, 5. In a golf match on the Pahiatua links Pahiatua beat Ekotahuna by 4i games to 3L thus retaining the Gregory Cup. The intcr-club fixture was also won by Pahiatua by 14 games to 5. In the women’s golf tourney in which Pahiatua met Ekotahuna for tho Cecil Cup, Pahiatua lost seven games, halved one, and won two. Airs AlcGrogor, of Ekotahuna. turned in a 37 for nine holes, which is only one above bogey figures.
