BOXING IN BRITAIN.

STRICKLAND BEATS BARLUND. Received June 29, 1.50 p.m. LONDON, June 28. Maurice Strickland gained the decision against Gunnar Barlund, who was disqualified for holding in the seventh round of a ten-round bout at Earls Court. Barlund attacked early but Strickland used his right effectively. He held his own, exchanging punches freely. Barlund continued a fast two-handed attack, but with little success owing to Strickland s clever defence. Barlund was cautioned for holding in the fifth round and a repetition of the offence brought his disqualification.
