WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.

OROUA DOWNS MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Oroua Downs Women’s Institute, which was presided over by Mrs Dench, was held recently. Although the weather was very unfavourable, there was a good attendance. The meeting took the form of a social afternoon, the time being spent with games and competitions. At a suitable juncture the opportunity was taken to present to the past president, Mrs W. Scott, a brass jardiniere in recognition of her services rendered to the institute during the past five years. The competitions resulted as follow: .Senior class, three jars assorted jam, Mrs Williams 1, 'Mrs Hall and Mrs Albrcy equal 2, junior class, sultana cake. Miss K. Dench 1, Miss I. Thomson 2. Floral competition, spray made from wood-pulp, senior class, Mrs Holgensen ; junior class, Miss I. Proctor. Written competition, Mrs N. Scott. Bagatelle, Miss A. Christensen. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses.
