(From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA. June 2b.

The Rongotea Rugby team played Rangiotu at Rongotea on Saturday, and after a very evenly contested game the local lads pjroved to be fhe winners. Rangiotu won the tess and defended the southern goal, having a slight breeze at their backs. Rongotca (black) kicked off and took play into Rangiotu’s (white) territory, hut were driven back again, and a line-out followed. The blacks broke through lo go over the visitors’ goal-line, where Hardisty kicked over the line and followed through to touch down for a try. Hazelwood’s kick failed. This reverso gave new life to the visitors, who went to the attack and kept the blacks defending for a period. On resuming, the whites drove the blacks hack anl for a' time the latter had somo anxious moments, till Glcdliill cleared with a good kick. The whites e-trove hard to even the score, and were awarded free kicks, which they failed to turn lo account, one being in front of the goal and not very far out, hut the ball struck the crossbar. Front this on the blacks hail the advantage, the whites appearing to bo tired. When time was called Rongotea led by 3 points lo nil. Mr R. Scott controlled the game.
