AUTUMN SHOW

SECOND EDITION

OPENED THIS AFTERNOON. DISPLAY OF AUTUMN BLOOMS. The annual autumn show of the Palmerston North Horticultural Society was opened in the Zealandia Hall this afternoon, when there was a good attendance of the public. With chrysanthemums predominating, the exhibits presented a beau--1 iful spectacle, the quality of the blooms being well up to, if not better than, that of previous years. The decorative classes were well patronised by exhibitors, with the result that there were some line table displays, the arrangement of the bh-oms exciting much admiration. The fruit, vegetable and cookery classes also attracted large entries. The judging was in the hands of the following Chrysanthemums, Mrs A. Harris (Phmmerton); cut blooms, Mr W. Weightman (Awahuri); decorative classes, Miss Murdoch (Fcilding); vegetables Mr F: Westbury (Lower Hutt); fruit, Messrs J. W. Whelan (Government orchard instructor), and J. Nairn (Palmerston A sweet and produce stall conducted by Mesdames A. Just and A. Shailer did good business. .
