MINERS DOWN TOOLS.
Per Press Association. WHANGAREI, April 3Q. In consequence of three truckers being put on to hew coal at Wilson’s mine, Hikurangi, the afternoon shift refused to turn to unless the three men were replaced by hewers out of employment. The demand was refused and 150 miners downed tools. A meeting of the Minors’ Union last night decided against working at Wilson’s colliery until a solution is obtained. With a conference with the directors it is anticipated that an adjustment will be reaohed soon.
