All returns in. connection with Poppy Day collections in this district are aot yet Available* though there aro sufficient to arrive very closely at the ultimate result. , In oohsidoring the total amount raised on the present occasion, it has to be- borno in mind that the movement did not this year have the assistance of town and country primary schools which were then closed on account of the infantile paralysis epidemic. Since the interim return was published a further £1) has been received from town sales, making the total in this respect £152 Is fid. Cbmpared with the previous sale ot poppies, the amount raised in street sales on that occasion has been .exceeded by £50 —a very creditable . resuit. Fox ton lias advised the secretary of the R.S.A. (Mr W. G. Itutherfurd) tEat it is forwarding £l4, and there is also some £4 to come to hand from Rongotea. The Boys High School has yet to return its quota and this, together with some other expected receipts, will make a grand total of about £IBO The record total of £1313 16s Id wai realised on Poppy Day in Wellington.
