HOCKEY

MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. The weekly meeting of the Manawatu Hockey Association was held last l ight, Mr O'. Aitchison presiding. Others present were: Messrs R. Scott, 11. Harvey, V. Hostick, E. Matthews, T. Wall, F. Cousins, W. Broughton, E. R. Chapman, O. Reeve and R. Clffe (hon. secretary). CORRESPONDENCE. From tho principal of the Girls’ High Sehol asking for tho use of tho Sportsground for practice purposes.—Received, it being decided to grant fhe request. From Mr J. A. Nash. M.P., accepting tho otlice of patron and enclosing a donation. —Received, a. vote of thanks being accorded the donor. From the New Zealand Association asking whether tho Manawatu Association would agree to an Australian match at Palmerston North. —Received, it being decided that owing to the finanoial position tho match could not bo considered. From tho secretary of the C. and C. Club stating that no ladies’ team would be placed in tho field this j’oar. —Received, the lndios’ committee to be asked to interview the writer as it was felt that there must be several players willing to take the field. GENERAL. Mr Reeve was appeinted the association’s representative on the ladies’ committee. A committee consisting of Messds Cousins, Aitehison, Reeve, Cliffe und Blackbourn was appointed to interview Miss Mills, principal of the Girls’ High School, with a view US having a school team enter into the competitions under tho control of the association. ft was decided to advise the Ohaken Club that the seven-a-nide tournament .will be held prior to the five-a-side contest.

In connection with tho seven-a-side tournament to be hold on May 6th, it was resolved to accept entries up to 5 p.m. on Saturday. May 2. The following teams woro accepted for the tournament: —Hinekoa (Feilding), West End Old Girls. Rougotea, High School Old Girls (two teams), Ohakea Ramblers (two teams), Technical Old Girls, Foxton (two teams).
