SPEAK AT WEST END. Despito the vory unfavourable weather conditions thedo was an attendance of upwards of 20 to hear Messrs F. W. Hubbard, 11. J. Canton and R. Edwards, aspirants for municipal honours, at West End School last night. Mr Canton gave a detailed account of the work of the past council, while Mr Edwadds spoke along the lines of his previous address. Commenting on the war memorial site, Mr Hubbard supported Mr W. E. Fitzfierbert ’s attitude on the matter and stated that the monument would look as well in any portion of tho Square as in the dead centre. He depdocated the idea of temporarily diverting tho railway lino.
