THE TRIAL IN BOMBAY. Received April 28, 10.40 a.m. DELHI, April 27. The trial of the nine accused in the Mumtaz Begum case has commenced at Bombay before a special jury in the High Court. To-day’s hearing was devoted to a re-statement of the case for the prosecution and the evidence of Mmntaz Begum, who described her life, first as the Maharajah’s mistress and later with Bawla.—Reuter.

This case is remarkable for the number of highly placed persons who are charged with complicity in connection with tlie attempted murder at Bombay of Alumtaz Begum, and the murder of her protector. These include the aide-de-camp of the Maharajah of Indore, a steward of the Maharajah's Bombay estates, army and police officers, and also the girl’s father.
