GORGE ROAD.

MONTHLY MEETING OF BOARD

A meeting of the Manawatu Gorge Road Board of Control was held today. There were present: Messrs F. J. Nathan (chairman), J. Batehelar, R. S. Chadwick, M. 0. Grainger and H. Cornelius. ENGINEER’S REPORT. The engineers (Messrs Jickell and Gilmour) reported:—During the month 1244 cubic yards of rock were excavated in road widening on hill side (day work) and 503 cubic yards in column foundations; 134 cubic yards of concrete were placed in position in 55 columns and 101 lineal feet of slabs, beams, walls and kerb. A length of 135 lineal feet of hand railing and posts has been erected during the month. Fifteen lineal feet of Gin concrete culverts have been placed in position.—Adopted. GENERAL. As the appointment of local bodies’ representatives to the board expires on May 1, it. was decided that those concerned be written to to this effect.
