HOCKEY TOURNEY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Tho Waituna sub-union held a ladie»’ hockey tourney yesterday. There was a good attendance of tho public, notwithstanding fho strong countor-attractionH in Fcilding. The ground was in good order though tho grass wae somewhat long. The games were under the management of Messrs R. Stewart and J. Ferguson and were got off in splendid style, the results of the matches were as follow: Waituna B v. Btanway A.—Stnnway won by one goal scored by Myrtl© Roseer. Waituna A v. Kiwitea.— Waituna won by one goal scored by Maidie McLean. llalcombe v. Stanway. —Haltombo won by one goal scored by Nola Davies. Stamvay A v. Wnituria A.—Stamvay won by two goals scored by Kathleen Miles. Kiwitea v. Stanway B.—Kiwitea won by one goal scored by Myrtle McDougall. Halcoinbe v. Waituna B. —Drawn game, no score.
Waituna A v. Stanway B. —Stanway won by one goal scored by Kathleen Green. Halcoinbe v. Stnnway A.-—llalcombe won by one goul scored by L. Monash. Kiwitea v. Waituna B. —Kiwitea won by one goal scored by Myrtle McDougall. llalcombe v. Waituna A. —llalcombe won by one goal scored by Nola Davies. Stanway A v. Stanway B. —A’e won by two goals scored by Kathleen Aides. Waituna A v. Waituna B. —A’s won by two goals scored by Maidie McLean and Gwen Palmer.
Kiwitea v. Hnlromte. —A very fast and exciting game. Molly Claphum scored for Halcoinbe in the first spell and Myrtle MoDougull for Kiwitea in the second and tho guine ended in a draw.
Stanway B v. Waituna B.—Stanwav won by one goal scored by Alisa Starke. Kiwitea v. Stamvay A. —Drawn game, neither side scoring. Tho points ecore were: Halcoinbe 8, Stanway A 7, Kiwitea 6, Waituna A 4, Stnnway B 4, Waituna B 2.
At the conclusion of play the teams were entertained at. tea in tne schoolroom when the rose bowl was presented to the Haleombe team by Air R. Stewart. In making tho presentation, Air Stewart stated that thfo ptrincipal condition governing Hie holding of the bowl was that the holders must this month next year hold a tourney fer the clubs in tho sub-union or else the bowl would go to tho runners-up. The speaker also made the point that in forming a sub-union they had the advantage of playing under the Feilding Association rules and patronage, but under their own management. Mr Ferguson suitably replied on behalf of his sister, the captain of the llalcombe team. COALMERCIAL. The Now Zealand Farmers’ Co-op.
