HOCKEY.
In connection with the Manawatu Hockey Association’s efforts to resuscitate the game in the schools, the meeting of the executive of that body on Tuesday night set up a committee oomprising Messrs C. Reeve, A. E. Blackbourn, W. Scott, T. Wail and E. R. Chapman to further the movement. With the object of giving tlie children greater interest in their games, it was decided that the Cousins Cup, for tho girls, be won outright this year, the donors having offered to present another trophy fior next season. This meuns that the winners this year will retain the cup. In regard to the boys’ games tho committee decided to present cups to the winners of the McLean Shield. Mr A. R. Cliffe intimated his intention of presenting a shield to the association for competition among tho primary school representative teams throughout the Wellington district. Mr Cliffe, who mentioned that there had been presented a cup for competition among all the schools of tho North Island, said he would very much like to see the Manawatu team win both this and the new shield at the end of the season.
