SMOKE CONCERT.
An impromptu smoke concert was held on Saturday evening, the occasion jeing a send-off to Mr E. Griffiths, who, for health reasons, is leaving for Australia shortly. The departing gentleman hag been a most enthusiastic worker at the poultry show's for many years past, especially in the pigeon section, he being responsible for the wonderful show of pigeons at our last Winter Show. His fellow workers on the committee could not let him depart without showing their appreciation of his good work at all times amongst them, and made him a presentation of the latest fountain pen, suitably inscribed. Mr C. Bryant, president of the Poultry Association, in making the presentation, spoke of the wonderful organisation in the pigeon classes at all shows, duo to Mr Griffiths’ hard work and knowledge in that section. Numerous speakers endorsed Mr Bryant’s remarks. A pleasant evening was spent in music, song, and story, the contributors being Messrs Thornhill, Christmas, J. Tozer, H. Griffiths, E. Griffiths, D. Pye, and Walter Young. The accompanist, Mr Kerr, made the evening a great success. The usual toasts were honoured, the evening terminating with tile singing of ‘'Auld Lang Sync.”
