BIG CRICKET
PROSPECTS FOR NEXT YEAR. GRIMMETT MAY BE A TERROR. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received April 22, 11.55 a.m. LONDON, April 21. The Evening Standard thinks that Hobbs’s- suggestion that the Australian cricketers will lie “in tlie cart” in 1926 are over-sanguine, and points out that a bowler used to hard wickets does not suffer as much, when it comes to soft ones, as a batsman. Grimmett might be a terror during a typical English summer, though England has several useful slow howlers, but none comparing with Blythe and Rhodes. Hobbs’s view confirms the opinion that there are signs of divergence in the development of the game in Australia and England. Owing to differing wjpkets the time may come when, barring accidents the home teams may always be expected to win.—A. and N.Z. cable.
