Manawatu Poultry Association.

(To the Editor). - Sn:, —In your issue of May 17th I noticed a letter signed " Fancier," in which be refers to the management of the North Island Poultry Association, ' anil also refers to the arrangement made • between the Into ManftwaUi Poultry Society and tho A. and P. Society. 1 have not tho pleasure of knowing who " Fancior" may bo. but he evidently knowa what ho is writing about when ho asks you tho following questions: -» 1. Does the M.P.S. exist ? 2. Who pays the prize money at tho Winter a Show'? 8. If the Socioty doca exist, a what do they get out of the proceeds ? rt It is very amusing to road your reply. :i You csither don't know anything about the matter, or you have carefully avoided answering the second and third ques tion, I have no hesitation in answering • " Fancier's " questions in the aame order as they are put, and challenge anyone to > truthfully deny thetn. (1), They only exist in name to enable the A. and P. to obtain championships to which they are not entitled to under the rules . of tho North Island Poultry Association, and every member of the committee does or should know that tins is true. (2) The (Mauawatu Poultry Society docs not fun! the pri/.<» money, the same being found bv the A. and P, Society, (;si JNV.v, sir, the t hist, but mo.st important of the three : f The Poultry Society does not get one: - single penny of tile proceeds of the Winter Show, although 1 feel .sure the I majority of the Palmcrston people think they do, and unless the A. and f P. Society make .satisfactory arrange* ■ ments by which the poulty people are allowed to run their show themselves | and take their just share of the proceeds there will be trouble in the camp, for outside poultry societies are detcrmined to eoine to the assistance of , the fanciers of this district and help them to start again. Thanking you in ; anticipation.—l am, etc., C. M. PliKKKiNti. [The antagonistic attitude adopted by , Mr Pickering towards the local A. and - P. Association is not very commendable. The Mauawatu Poultry Assoem- • tion and the A. and P, Association are - working well together and our corres- ■ pondent, on patriotic grounds, should avoid criticism which may create dissension between the two institutions.— Eii. .M.E.S j
