Macmahon's Dramatic Co
Inferring to the production of the powerful English drama " A Bogue'a Daughter," with which the Messrs Maeraihon commence their two nights' scanem at the Opera House on Monday evening next, the Auckland Herald, speaking of its initial production' in Australasia, says 'The Mac malum Dramatic Company added another to their long score of successes by the production on Saturday evening of the sensational play, " A Rogue's Daughter." before a crowded house at Hiss Majesty's Theatre, The story of " A Hogwe's Daughter,' who turns out not to have been the rogue's daughter after all, is one ot thrilling interest throughout, a dainty love theme being associated with a perfect carnival of crime.
The piece was well staged, and the allround excellence of the cast enabled the company to handle the production in a manner which readily won the hearty approval of the audience, and some of the scenes were applauded to such an extent that the action of the play was stopped for several minutes. The piece abounds in strong dramatic situations and exciting incidents, while it lias also a pronounced vein of humour running through it. The play centres around the doings of one Colonel Foster, a most accomplished scoundrel, who has not a redeeming iruit m his character, ana the amount of evil he manages to bring about before his career is ended as swiftly and suddenly as it deserved, forms a story which provides enough, sensationalism for any ordinary playgoer in one evening. The season of four weeks has certainly established a record for great audiences, and a hearty welcome will always be extended to the company on their re-appearance in Auckland, where the popularity of Macmahon's powerful organisation is most pronounced. On Tuesday, " Called Back " will be staged. The box plan is now open at Mr Park's.
