Other Measures.
Received May 24, at 9 a.m. LONDON, May 23. In the House of Lords, Lord Beay's Juvenile Smoking Bill, based on the Physical Deterioration Committee's report, to prevent the sale of tobacco to persons under sixteen, was read a second time and referred to a select committee. The Government has determined to omit the committee's amendment regarding the load-line of incoming ships from the Shipping Bill. The foreign Powers have already approached the Government on the subject.
