He loaves on Monday for Melbourne, and proposed to extend his visit to Adelaide, subsequently returning to Melbourne. SYDNEY, May 20. Mr Seddon yesterday had an interview v.'ith the Japanese Consul relative to ihc establishment of a direct scrvico with tict East. The Consul was much pleased with the Government's in tended fiction. A fortnightly service is proposed between ITew Zealand, Singapore, Hongkong, Java, and Japan. The idea is favorably received in commercial circles hero. There will be a meeting of the Australian Executive Commissioners in Melbourne on Wednesday to dbeu.-s Exhibition matters. New South Wales has taken up the Exhibition cordially and gouu ipacc hasbeen applied for. Manufacturers and ilio Chamber of Couiraeuee of Victoria regard the Exhibition favourably, but the Government- is lukewarm. Circulars have recently been issued £or a Victorian Exhibition, but replies rather favour representation at New Zealand, as u'ng more advantageous. Ministerial changes in Queensland rather retarded matters in that State, but the new Premier is very favourably disposed. The South Australian Commissioners will meet Mr Seddon at Adelaide on Saturday next. Mr Seddon was entertained by a number of New Zealand students attending the various colleges J here at lunch on Saturday. !
