The Waterworks.
During the past few week* the new* nipe track at the wnteru ork* from the proposed new d>un -ife to where the present 12 inch main* eros* theTiritca stream has been completed along its full length, 11 miles. It has a uniform grade from end to end and forms a pleasant path to walk upon and at the name time opening up the heautjfttl scenery along the course of the stream. Nature has been disturbed as little as possible in order that visitors may enjoy many npUmdid views of original New Zealand bush. A very substantial iron bridge ha* been constructed connecting the Tirilea road with the pipe track, and iu addition to being useful in the transport of the, cast iron mains, gives access to the scenery mentioned above. A tramway for the purpose of transporting shingle is being constructed from tin* r>resent intake to the site of the new dam, and this work only requires the rails place in position to be complete. At tin? new dam site excavations are being made for the foundations and by-wash. The work is well forward. I n making these excavations and plaenig the excavated material opportunity has be< n taken to form a large Hat at the down stream side of the dam. This Slat will form n beautiful picnic ground when laid down in and the flowering shrubs to be planted are properly grown.
