A Noble Work.
(Per Pro#B Association.} DUKEDIN, May 17. At the annual mooting of the Danedin centre of the St. John Ainbulanca An. 80ciation, while the worfs 6f the district nurse wan being di«eu*#e<i, Dr. Barnctt said the work of tho district nurao w&» mainly with tho old and holploa#, but what about infants on tho thrcahhold of liro, who were practically poisoned by improper feeding ? Ho warmly eulogised Dr. Truby King'* timely efforts in this direction. With whole-hearted cnthueiaam, Dr. King was at present out of his own pocket paying a nurao to go round among tho people of the district, especially tho poor, to show tho proper method of feeding infants. He was not only paying a nurse, but providing the requisites necessary. That was generous on Dr. King's part, but it should not be allowed to continue, and Dr. Burnett advocated that the Association ! should take over payment of the nurse. I Jlo thought the Premier would support such a scheme by subsidies. 4 Dr Will Miggested that it had been drawn up iik the result of correspondence with the Premier and Dr King. "What was proposed was to appoint three nurses, and he had asked lor a subsidy of -Is in the £ on money subscribed. He hoped to have an answer from Mr Seddon on his return from Australia.
