Rongotea.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) We are having very heavy ruin in tins district, but I am glad to say Our Town Board were wise :hh! early had the drains, etc., attended to so that our -streets are drier than usual with such wet weather. Mr Little has disposed of Iks business and the new proprietor lakes possession at once. Residents of the town will be glad to hear that the Dairy Factory Company are about to put down an up-to-date drainage system. Most of the factories are now receiving milk on alternate days. Our town is now* lighted by electricity knd it is a great convenience these dark nights. With regard to lighting, some time ago we had a cute visitor who sold many people by the sale to them of a patent kerosene lamp. He took several hundred pounds uteriing out of this district, but most of the lamps are on the scrap heap and the people are waiting for the next canvu>ser with a shot gun. Why cannot these canvassers, circus companies, German bands, and all other " readytuoticy skinners " be made to pay a good sun™ liy the local bodies before they start operations. A good bit of building is proposed in tliis district but the rain practically stops all outside work. During last week the Anglican Church was broken into and the collection appropriated. *
