IniDOrtant Statement.
(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Per Press Association.) Received May 16, at 8.57 a.m. LONDON, May 1-5. The Earl of Portsmouth, in reply to Lord Wemyss, made an important statement on Home Defence. Great Britain, he said, had a mobilisation scheme enabling her to mobilize more quickly than any continental nation. The two services were entirely in accord concerning measures of defence.
