Tlie census returns tor Palmerston N. are practically collected, and, from figures in his possession, Mr Shortt, enumerator, estimates that the population of the borough will be not less than 10,168, probably two or three either way, when the official checking takes place.
The population of the Borough when the last census was taken was 6534, so that a gam of about 3030 has been made in five years—a record which it will be hard for any country town in New Zealand to beat.
(Per PreRS Association) WESTPORT, This day. _ Westport borough population is 3645, as compared with 2922 when the last census was taken. The total is composed of 1734 females and 1911 males.
