The following paragraph appeared in the Natal Mercury of August 15th, from their Johannesburg correspondent:—The death occurred last night of" a young New Zealander named McGonagle, as the result of injuries received at football. At a Rugby match a week ago the deceased tried to intercept an opponent, whose knee caught him in the head, causing fracture of the base of the skull. This is the first death from accident on the football field on the Rand for many years.
